Claypath is a sole proprietorship trading as Claypath, established in California, United States, and is the controller responsible for deciding how your personal information is processed.
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Policy will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have any questions or concerns, please contact us at support@clay-path.com.

What information do we collect?
Personal information you disclose to us
In short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, when you subscribe, when you submit a withdrawal declaration, or otherwise when you contact us.
Personal Information Provided by You. The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the features you use. The personal information we collect may include the following:
- your email address, when you register;
- your name, if you submit a withdrawal declaration, along with the email address you enter there;
- the contents of any email you send us.
If you set a password, it is held by our sign-in provider, Clerk. Claypath never receives it.
Sensitive Information. We do not process sensitive information.
Payment Data. If you subscribe, Stripe collects the data necessary to process your payment, such as your name, billing address, card number and security code. All payment data is handled and stored by Stripe. You may find their privacy notice here: stripe.com/privacy. The card form belongs to Stripe and runs inside Stripe’s own frame, so no card number, expiry date or security code reaches Claypath's servers. Stripe tells us the card brand and last four digits, so the app can show you which card is on file.
Social Media Login Data. We provide you with the option to register with us using your existing Google or Apple account. If you choose to register in this way, we receive your email address, as described in the section called “How do we handle your social logins?” below.
All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.
Files you upload
To generate a mold you upload a drawing or a 3D model. The file is read once by the process that builds your mold and deleted in the same step, and a scheduled sweep clears anything a crashed job leaves behind. If you subscribe, Claypath keeps the mold parts it generated for you, and the name of the file you uploaded, so you can download them again; it never keeps the file itself.
Information automatically collected
In short: Claypath records a small number of events about how its pages are used, and error reports when something breaks.
Claypath’s servers write no access logs, so your IP address, browser and device are not recorded when you visit. What is collected automatically is described below, and none of it is used for advertising.
- Usage events. See “How Claypath measures its own pages” just below.
- Job records. For each mold you generate: the mold type, whether the input was a drawing or a model, whether it succeeded and, if not, why, and when. For subscribers it also holds the settings the mold was made with.
- Error reports. When our servers fail, an error report is sent to our crash-reporting provider, with the request body and anything resembling an upload removed before it is sent.
Like many businesses, we also use cookies and similar technologies, though only the ones strictly necessary to provide the Services. You can find out more about this in section 05 and in our Cookie Policy.
How Claypath measures its own pages
Claypath records a few events about how the site is used: a page was viewed, the sign-in window was opened, the prices were looked at, a generation was refused for want of allowance, a page threw an error in someone’s browser. One person cannot otherwise find out that something is broken without waiting to be told.
Those records go to Claypath’s own servers. No analytics company is involved, no third-party script runs on these pages for it, and no one buys the results. Nothing is stored on your device for it: no cookie, no local storage, no identifier. Claypath therefore cannot tell one anonymous visit from another or recognise you when you come back. Your IP address is held in memory for about two minutes to stop one machine flooding the endpoint, and is never written down.
An event carries the name of what happened, when, and at most a handful of short labels. If you were signed in it also carries your account id. Deleting your account unlinks it. There is no advertising, no profiling, and no decision is made about you from any of it. Email support@clay-path.com if you would rather your signed-in activity were not counted.
Information collected from other sources
In short: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address.
We do not obtain information about you from public databases, marketing partners, data providers or social media platforms. The one outside source is the sign-in provider you choose: if you register or sign in with your Google or Apple account, that provider gives your email address to Clerk, which gives it to us. Any personal information that provider shares depends on your account’s privacy settings with them. Please note that their own use of your information is not governed by this Privacy Policy.
How do we process your information?
In short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We process the personal information for the purposes listed below. We may also process your information for other purposes only with your prior explicit consent.
We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:
- To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts. We may process your information so you can create and log in to your account, as well as keep your account in working order.
- To deliver the Services. We process the file you upload to generate your mold, count your generations against the free tier’s allowance, and, if you subscribe, keep your generated parts so you can download them again.
- To fulfill and manage your orders. We may process your information to fulfill and manage your subscription, payments, refunds, and withdrawals made through the Services.
- To find and fix problems. We use usage events and error reports to find pages that are broken or confusing and jobs that fail.
- To save or protect an individual’s vital interest. We may process your information when necessary to save or protect an individual’s vital interest, such as to prevent harm.
What legal bases do we rely on to process your information?
In short: We only process your personal information when we believe it is necessary and we have a valid legal reason (i.e., legal basis) to do so under applicable law, like with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services to enter into or fulfill our contractual obligations, to protect your rights, or to fulfill our legitimate business interests.
If you are located in the EU or UK, this section applies to you.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on in order to process your personal information. As such, we may rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:
- Consent. We may process your information if you have given us permission (i.e., consent) to use your personal information for a specific purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Learn more about withdrawing your consent.
- Performance of a Contract. We may process your personal information when we believe it is necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you, including providing our Services or at your request prior to entering into a contract with you.
- Legitimate Interests. We process usage events and error reports because we have a legitimate interest in knowing whether the Services work, and this does not outweigh your interests and fundamental rights. You can object to this processing as described in section 10.
- Legal Obligations. We may process your information where we believe it is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records, recording a withdrawal declaration, cooperating with a law enforcement body or regulatory agency, exercising or defending our legal rights, or disclosing your information as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.
- Vital Interests. We may process your information where we believe it is necessary to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of a third party, such as situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person.
If you are located in Canada, this section applies to you.
We may process your information if you have given us specific permission (i.e., express consent) to use your personal information for a specific purpose, or in situations where your permission can be inferred (i.e., implied consent). You can withdraw your consent at any time.
In some exceptional cases, we may be legally permitted under applicable law to process your information without your consent, including, for example:
- If collection is clearly in the interests of an individual and consent cannot be obtained in a timely way
- For investigations and fraud detection and prevention
- For business transactions provided certain conditions are met
- If it is contained in a witness statement and the collection is necessary to assess, process, or settle an insurance claim
- For identifying injured, ill, or deceased persons and communicating with next of kin
- If we have reasonable grounds to believe an individual has been, is, or may be victim of financial abuse
- If it is reasonable to expect collection and use with consent would compromise the availability or the accuracy of the information and the collection is reasonable for purposes related to investigating a breach of an agreement or a contravention of the laws of Canada or a province
- If disclosure is required to comply with a subpoena, warrant, court order, or rules of the court relating to the production of records
- If it was produced by an individual in the course of their employment, business, or profession and the collection is consistent with the purposes for which the information was produced
- If the collection is solely for journalistic, artistic, or literary purposes
- If the information is publicly available and is specified by the regulations
- We may disclose de-identified information for approved research or statistics projects, subject to ethics oversight and confidentiality commitments
When and with whom do we share your personal information?
In short: We share information with the service providers listed below, and in the specific situations described in this section.
Claypath is one person, so other companies do the parts one person cannot. Each processes your information on our behalf and receives only what its job needs.
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Accounts and sign-in | Your email address, your password if you set one, and your IP address when you sign in. If you sign in with Google or Apple, that provider tells Clerk your email. |
| Stripe | Payments and subscriptions. Its payment form runs inside the Claypath page, so its script loads there once you open checkout and not before. | Your name, email, billing address, card details, and the country used to work out tax. |
| Neon | Hosts Claypath’s database | The records described in section 07. |
| Hetzner | Hosts the servers that build your mold | Your uploaded file, for as long as it takes to read it. |
| Cloudflare | The domain, the bot check on the sign-up form, and storage of generated parts for subscribers | Your IP address when you load a page or sign up, and, if you subscribe, your generated mold parts for 90 days. |
| Sentry | Reports server crashes | Error reports, with the request body and anything resembling an upload stripped out before sending. |
We may also need to share your personal information in the following situation:
- Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
Where your data is processed
The companies above operate in the United States and in Europe, so your data may be processed in either. Where data leaves the UK or the EU, each of them contracts to protect it using the standard contractual clauses the law provides.
Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
In short: We use only the cookies and browser storage strictly necessary to provide the Services. We use no tracking technologies for advertising.
Clerk sets a session cookie when you sign in, which is what keeps you signed in from one page to the next. Stripe sets two cookies to check that a payment is not fraudulent, and only once you open checkout. Claypath also keeps your settings and your recent jobs in your browser’s own storage, which never leaves your device.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, web beacons or pixels, and we do not permit third parties to use online tracking technologies on our Services. Our own measurement, described in section 01, stores nothing on your device. Because we neither sell nor share your personal information, there is nothing for a “sale” or “sharing” opt-out to switch off, though we honour one if you send it (see section 11).
Specific information about each cookie and item of browser storage, and how you can refuse them, is set out in our Cookie Policy.
How do we handle your social logins?
In short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using your Google or Apple account, we receive your email address.
Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using your Google or Apple account. Where you choose to do this, the provider sends your profile information to Clerk, which runs our sign-in, and Claypath receives only your email address from it.
We will use the information we receive only for the purposes that are described in this Privacy Policy or that are otherwise made clear to you on the relevant Services. Please note that we do not control, and are not responsible for, other uses of your personal information by Google or Apple. We recommend that you review their privacy notice to understand how they collect, use, and share your personal information, and how you can set your privacy preferences on their sites and apps.
How long do we keep your information?
In short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). The table below sets out each kind of record, why it is kept, and for how long.
| Data | Why | Legal basis | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| The file you upload | Generating your mold | Performing our contract | Deleted the moment it is read |
| Your email address and Clerk account id | Running your account and contacting you about it | Performing our contract | Until you delete your account |
| Subscription status, plan, renewal date, Stripe customer and subscription ids | Billing you and knowing what your account can do | Performing our contract, then a legal obligation to keep tax records | Until you delete your account; invoices are kept at Stripe as long as tax law requires |
| How many molds you have generated this month, and when the count resets | Applying the free tier’s allowance | Performing our contract | Until you delete your account |
| Job records, as described in section 01 | Applying the allowance and diagnosing failures | Performing our contract | Until you delete your account |
| Usage events | Finding pages that are broken or confusing | Our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site works | Kept, but unlinked from you when you delete your account |
| Withdrawal declarations: the name and email address you entered, and when | Recording that you exercised your right of withdrawal | Legal obligation | Kept after account deletion, as the record of a legal declaration |
| Subscribers onlyThe mold parts Claypath generated for you, and the name of the file you uploaded | Letting you download them again from another machine | Performing our contract | 90 days from the day the job finished |
Free-tier jobs do not record the name of the file you uploaded, and on the free tier the generated parts are deleted from our servers once your browser has downloaded them.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
How do we keep your information safe?
In short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.
Do we collect information from minors?
In short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction, and you confirm this when you sign up. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 18 or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction, please contact us at support@clay-path.com.
What are your privacy rights?
In short: Depending on your state of residence in the US or in some regions, such as the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), Switzerland, and Canada, you have rights that allow you greater access to and control over your personal information. You may review or delete your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.
In some regions (like the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure; (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information; (iv) if applicable, to data portability; and (v) not to be subject to automated decision-making. If a decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects is made solely by automated means, we will inform you, explain the main factors, and offer a simple way to request human review. In certain circumstances, you may also have the right to object to the processing of your personal information. You can make such a request by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section “How can you contact us about this policy?” below.
We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
If you are located in the UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you can make a complaint directly to us. This is in addition to the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

If you are located in the EEA or UK and you believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you also have the right to complain to your Member State data protection authority or UK data protection authority.
If you are located in Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section “How can you contact us about this policy?” below.
However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
Account Information
If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:
- open the account panel in the app and choose “Delete account” to delete your account and everything attached to it;
- email support@clay-path.com to receive a copy of what we hold about you, or to have any of it corrected.
When you delete your account, we delete it and its information from our active databases straight away, cancel any subscription, and delete any parts stored for you. The only records that remain are the ones listed as kept after deletion in section 07: invoices held at Stripe for tax purposes, any withdrawal declaration, and usage events no longer linked to you.
Cookies and similar technologies: Most Web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Services. For further information, please see our Cookie Policy.
If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, you may email us at support@clay-path.com.
Controls for Do-Not-Track features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Policy.
California law requires us to let you know how we respond to web browser DNT signals. Because there currently is not an industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.
Global Privacy Control: We recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. If you use a browser or extension that supports GPC, we will treat this as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising purposes under applicable state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we will automatically apply your opt-out preference without requiring you to take any additional action. For more information about GPC and how to enable it, visit globalprivacycontrol.org.
Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?
In short: If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have the right to request access to and receive details about the personal information we maintain about you and how we have processed it, correct inaccuracies, get a copy of, or delete your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal information. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law. More information is provided below.
